Nestled in the heart of Hackney, Broadway Market is a bustling hub for foodies. Now holding over 135 stalls the market has everything from amazing street food and coffee to fresh farm produce, artisan bread, cakes and unique items from local designers and artists. As avid foodies we knew this would be a great place to visit to discover new independent brands. We headed to Broadway Market as Panasonic Lumix challenged us to capture the market in its full glory, in light of the latest release of their new waterproof camera, which we will definitely be investing in for our upcoming travels!
The market only opens on a Saturday which means it does get fairly busy, do keep this in mind when visiting. As you head near the market the smell of street food fills the air, they have a variety of food available from fresh produce to cooked food! We did notice there is a lot of vegan options available which is nice.
The first place we stopped was Artisan Foods, they sell a wide range of bread and pastries which is all freshly baked, we had to buy a fresh loaf of sourdough because nothing beats a fresh loaf of bread!
What I personally love about this market is that the stall holders are super friendly, they allow you to try samples of what they sell, so you end up being very full at the end! I highly recommend going to ‘Get Fudged’ and try the baileys fudge, it was amazing!
Broadway market isn’t just full of great food, it has a lot of creative, independent businesses from jewellery, clothing, homeware and cosmetics. If you’re looking for a piece of unique jewellery and vintage books, I suggest heading down to Broadway Market.
If you can’t make the market on a Saturday you can always head down during the week as there is plenty of cute coffee shops and restaurants to enjoy.
